Can I use this wheel as a Full Size Spare?
My buddy gave me this wheel last night for free. He just had it in his basement. It is newly machined, powdercoated, and cleared. I guess his friend had them done for a camaro and got in an accident shortly after so he gave him the last good wheel for free.
Well, on the back it says 15x7-JJ. So I would need like a 225/60/15 and that tire size would be the same exact height as my 245/50/16 according to the tire size calc.
The question I had was, how do I tell if it is a front wheel or rear wheel. Because the 16" WS6 wheels I have now say front and rear on them. I know the fronts can fit on the rears, but the rears will rub on the fronts.
I know it isnt the best wheel to use, but i figure with the right tire size it would at least not cook the diff. And, probably safer as a spare than the inflatable one in the car.

That version of the Camaro 15" aluminum wheel(I think all 15" did)didn't have a different offset for front/rear.The stock size was 215/65-15 or 235/60-15 depending on year.I don't think a fully inflated full size wheel will fit in the spare wheel(but I've never tried either).

I wasnt planning on keeping it in the spare tire well, lol. I will keep it at my house, and if I get a flat (god forbid) I will have my parents or a friend get it to me so I can get the car home.
Also, if i decide to venture on a long trip, I would throw the spare in the back well with my mini floor jack and 4-point wrench.

Sounds generally inconvenient. Though I have a spare, I'd never use it (it's 20+ years old for goodness sake). I throw in a can of Flat-Fix or whatever the brand name is.

Well thats the same reason I would only use my spare in a last chance type of emergency. Like if I was far from home, had no other spare, and AAA wouldnt come lol.
The other day, I took out the spare tire. It wasnt bolted in for whatever reason, and was making alot of clanks and rattles over every bump. But, I noticed it had NEVER been used. Still had the painted stripes on the tread. Also, the CO2 inflator had never been used. So I have no idea if there is CO2 even in there. The inflator is still wrapped in a thin cardboard which I think is factory.

Oh heres a funny story about fix-a-flat too.
I was working at firestone, and a 95 LT1 Trans Am comes in with a hooker exhasut, red paint, and t-tops. Real nice car. Anyway, he had like 18" corvette wheels, the really really light ones, with 285R18 tires on the back. One of them had been punctured by a 1/4-20 bolt or something, so it had a huge hole in it. He was on the way to a concert, so he ended up putting *5* cans of that stuff in. Needless to say, it filled the hole and worked. But the minute I broke the bead on the tire, this stuff went Everywhere. All over the shop, all over the machine, and all over his FIREBIRD. It started eating at the paint. Not to mention, his corvette wheel(s) were ruined. That stuff is so corrosive.
Anyway, I hosed off his whole car the best I could right there in the shop. I told him to wash it all good at home. I saw this same guy a dunkin a few night later, and he was telling me how he had to buff out the clear on his whole car to get the spots to go away. And how his wheels are permanently damaged lol.
