Need New Posi...
Hey guys, well in the fall I parked my GTA a bit earlier than I was going to simply because the posi went so I was told. Anyway the mechanic I go to who is one of my brothers friend's suggested that I get an aftermarket posi unit instead of a used one or rebuilt one because it will last me a long long time and I want to send my car in about a month to get it ready for when the snow starts melting
...what are your thoughts on this...also I am still learning about cars in general so does this have anything to do with the rear differential...what happens is that the car makes a loud banging noise in the rear end (kinda clicking sound) every couple tire rotations...anyway thanks, Josh

Re: Need New Posi...
First thing to do would be to take off the cover and see what's broke....
It'd kinda suck to spend a bunch of money on some part, and then it turn out to be something else that's dead.

Yep
see what is broken sounds like the ring gear to me but changing the diff is a good idea for best performance since the stock type units wear out.
