Spohn SFC - any mounted pictures?
Howdy!
This is my first post here.
I often read and search in the forums. Great place for a Thirdgen driver! *Thumbs up*
By the way, my name is Michael, 20years old and i live in Germany, so please excuse any grammar mistakes.
I drive a 1991 Camaro RS V8 TBI, black with red interior.
Now i just got my new set of Spohn Subframe Connectors. I will take my car to a shop that is experienced with american cars (I live near the Spangdahlem AFB) but i think it would be better to show the mechanic a few pictures of mounted SFC's. I already read that it is necessary to remove the carpet above the welding spots to avoid burnings.
Please, if anyone here has some pictures on his PC, could you post them here?
Regards
Michael

I'd like to see that myself. I have a set in the garage awaiting install...
I'm going to remove the entire carpet and just bolt the driver's seat back in and drive it to the shop that way...
Come on guys, where's the pics?...

If you go to the Spohn web site they have a step by step (with pictures) guide...

These are Spohns, they're bare, and they're modified on the passenger side. mw66nova installed them for me, they work very nice-a!

Normall this cross-bar connects to the top side of the part that runs along the rockers, but he notched it and welded it directly to the side since I've got a dual exh setup. Normally you'd want that room there to run the single exhaust pipe.

They've got a coat of rattle can paint on em now. Not perfect but I think they'll be fine.

OK I am being lazy here but it is late and I only got 4 hours of sleep last night. These are not Spohn SFC's but do show step by step instruction on how they were installed and where they were welded in. If you check out the links below you can see some pictures of the SFC I made and how they were installed. Be sure when welding them in the weight of the car is on it's wheels. Otherwise you can weld in a twist to the car and it will be really messed up!
I made my own SFC's because I did some custom work and there are not any SFC that would fit my application.
When I made mine I used tubing that was 1 3/4" DOM. The wall thickness is .134 The mounting plates on the front are 7ga (3/16") mild steel and the rear mount is attached with a two part mount system. The first part was welded in prior to the SFC and is a U shape part that was welded in 360 degrees and form fitted in there. It was about 7" long. Then the rear of the SFC slid up in there and was welded along the sides and bottom. (hard to explain but worked out great and made for a perfect fit!)
I have a air/hyd mandrel bender. So you can do it different but this was how mine were made.
See attached links for pictures and fabrication of the SFC's
