could use some drop spring advice

Okay so heres the deal. I am about to turn 16 and I just got myself a 92 v6 bird(practically free) and i need some suggestions on what lowering springs i should use to obtain a 1.5-2" drop. Company, part #, anything will help really. I would keep it stock height but as many of you have mentioned, stock birds sit a lil too high n look odd to me. Other than the aftermarket performance sway bars what else would you recommend without spending tons of money.. the budget isnt tight but its not huge either. Thanks,James

You might want to reconsider a drop that large--you'll have to watch every pothole, speedbump and driveway (not to mention trying to position a jack under the car). You'd also need a bump-steer kit and an adjustable panhard. Just not worth it for me personally. Performance sway bars and budget? Shoot, hit the JY's for a hollow 36, solid 24 combo.

I took into consideration a 1" eibach drop but it seems pointless to drop the car only an inch. Would a 1" make that much of a difference at all?

Oddly enough, some members have found that drop springs actually do very little since their OE springs have apparently sagged some over the years. A search will provide a wealth of info on lowering.

I agree with the others. My Formula HAD a 2" front drop and 1.6 rear. It was awful, I was bottoming out on US Interstate highways--every minute--BANG!

You really have to only drive on roads in very good condition--which can be pain to plan out.

Isnt the pro-kit for v8 cars? If so, I would imagine installing it would actually lift the front end a little, but lower the rear more.

And yeah, go to the j/y and find the WS6 sway bars. They are amazing stock. Its one of the things we have factory, that is even better than the 4th gens!

dropzone, has what your looking for in springs. if i remeber right they make a set for the v-6 cars, if you use the prokit it would probaly rase the front height a little due to the lack of excesive weight. i did a 1.2" drop on my car and it dropped about .25" inches due to the 18 year old saggy springs. and second on that 36mm/24mm swaybar upgrade. the best $40 you could spend on your cars suspension
----------
by the way if you updrade to a stiffer set of spring you will need to upgrade the shocks as well, the shocks on the car probaly need to be replaced anyway, so keep that in mind

Some 86-92 Firebirds, some 89-92 Camaros.

Yes all GTAs and Formulas are WS6 so they have the big sway bars. Some Trans AMs did too.

Camaros did not
