Re: changing shocks
If you are doing rear:
1. Pull the carpet up behind the rear seats until you see a piece of foam (one on each side). Remove the foam- this will expose the upper shock mount. Take off the nuts holding the shock to the car.
2. Jack up the car with the rear end, put jack stands where the LCAs connect to the body -Make sure the car won't fall on your head!! Lower the rear carefully. May need someone to guide the shocks out of the mount holes and watch for the springs which may fall out of their mounts. Do not remove the jack, leave it just touching the hog-head.
3. Get under the back of the car, and remove the bolts holding the shocks to the rear end. At this point, they'll probably just fall out.
Installation is just this process reversed.
For the front:
1. Jack up the front of the car on the front k-member in front of the oil pan. Put the jack stands under the car and make sure it won't fall.
2. Take off the front wheels. Put the jack under one of the a-arms, and jack it up so that the suspension isn't hanging free. If it is loose when you remove the strut, the spring may come flying out at you....ouchie.
3. If you are replacing the mounts with the shocks (which I reccomend), take the bolts off the strut mount carefully. If you have compressed the suspension, it's going to want to shove the strut towards you. If you aren't....I can't really tell you if you can get the strut out without removing the mount, cause I replaced mine as I went.
4. Find the two large bolts holding the strut to the spindle, and remove them. The strut now just needs to be replaced and everything reassembled.
You'll need an allignment after this, btw. Hope this helps.

Re: changing shocks
Autozones website has really good instructions on alot of parts. You have to find the actual ones specific to your car, with pictures. These instructions are from the factory service manual I believe.

Cool beans. I didn't know that. It'll help with my steering box and rag joint install. Thanks!

Re: changing shocks
Where exactly do you put the jack stands? I'm doing my suspension project tomorrow, so any quick advise would be fantastic. Thanks in advance!

Re: changing shocks
if you want it to sit loaded, i place mine under the rear sway bar at its outermost(straight) point.
