Rear sway bar question
I currently have a hotchkis 1" rear bar, it seems to be bent a little differently than stock, and this is causing headaches with my coil-overs and my new rear.
From what i understand, bigger is not really better for the rear sway bar for a handling application, right now the back end will slide out on me pretty easy, no 180's but a bit loose, should i be looking for a smaller bar? any size recommendations?

Re: Rear sway bar question
Going with a large rear sway bar like the one you installed often causes oversteer (when the back of the vehicle wants to pass the front when braking or accelerating). To fix this, just install a smaller rear sway bar. I plan on just going with the WS6 sway bars (36mm hollow front, and 24mm solid rear) for my IROC. It's a proven setup and one of the cheapest applications available.
If you have a small front swaybar, it might just be that you setup isn't balanced. What I mean is if you have a small 30mm front bar and a huge 25.4mm (1in) rear bar, that might be your problem.

i have the hotchkis front bar too, 1 7/16, a little bigger than 36mm i think, its a big one. I think im going to try to find a smaller rear bar and see what happens

Re: Rear sway bar question
I have the Spohn 25.4 rear and the WS6 36 front. My car has problems with oversteer as well. If I ever get the time, I'm going with the WS6 24mm.
If I did the math right, the 1 7/16 inch bar is a 35.8mm.... pretty much 36, lol.

Yeah, you're right. I messed up somewhere in the math.

Re: Rear sway bar question
If you are running stock spring rates the 24mm bar is good but if you have installed stiffer springs the 24 may still be too big. I have 150# rear springs and went from a 24 to a 19mm rear bar to get rid of the oversteer.

Re: Rear sway bar question
In order to reduce the oversteer you will need to use a smaller sway bar at least that is the easiest and cheapest way.
Re: Rear sway bar question
We have found the larger rear bars to cause under steer... we have bars in development now and we will be offering a 22mm solid rear. The 25mm (1") is to stiff and causes the problems you are seeing.
Hope that helps,
Ryan

Re: Rear sway bar question
I have the Spohn 1 5/6" front bar with a 23 mm rear one, and it feels pretty good. I dont have alot of over or understeer.
