Single Roll Bar

Do they make a roll bar for the camaro that is more hidden I am looking at putting in racing seat and 4 point seat belt and need to put in a roll bar for the seat belt to be safe. I’ve seen somewhere a single bar coming from the right wheel wells and up over the back seat and to the left wheel well. I can't find anything like that online. I just don't really want the bars coming to the front of the car.

Re: Single Roll Bar

Could you post a picture of this roll bar? Sounds like it might be right for me as well.

Re: Single Roll Bar

I'm not even sure what the purpose of a bar like that would be used for. It offers no rollover protection because there are no forward and rearward braces and offers no way to attach shoulder harnesses for a seat belt.

Re: Single Roll Bar

What if you had a main hoop and then then two braces going straight back to the rear strut towers, and had a bolt in brace connecting the vertical sides of the main hoop? That would make it a 4-point roll cage and provide a place for a race harness to be mounted. It wouldn't be all that obtrusive but still provide a little more rigidity and the fast car look.

Re: Single Roll Bar

You are right in needing a roll bar for the "5" point harness. Don't think of using
a 4 pt w/o a submarine strap, or you will slide up under the dash like Ernie Irvin did.

I think that the GM set up is good. It is better than alot of "enhanced safety" device I have seen.

A good aftermarket seat is a death trap without the proper belt arrangement and like you said you will need a cage to mount the shoulder harness.

The thing in your picture is only a head knocker.

Re: Single Roll Bar

I just need something that has the fews bars and doesn't have bars in my way. that 4 or 5 point harnesses can hook into. So I guess the 6 point or the 4 point bar looks the best option right now.
