Re: junk steering box

The manual s-10 box will work fine, just remember your ratio's change to make turning easier.

Re: junk steering box

Get one from a 84+ S10. It will have the 4 bolt top cover and will be a direct bolt in. Although the pitman arm will work, you should use the third gen pitman arm because it's a slightly different length. The early steering boxes have 3 bolts on the top cover and take a bit more to get them to bolt in.

The S10 manual steering box is 7 turns from stop to stop.

...and I thought my 2.5 stop to stop was bad.

Re: junk steering box

I paid about $225 for a rebuilt power steering box from Carquest. No problems so far.

Re: junk steering box

I just replaced mine a couple weeks ago with a rebuilt unit from Rockauto.com for $150.
