does anybody know if a rollcage made for a 4th gen will fit in a 3rd gen? a guy has a new wolf 6 point moly cage for 4th gen. need to know if anybody has tried this?

 

I have wondered this also.. I sent wolfe an email a few years ago and they just said that their rollcage was was designed for a fourth gen and had no idea.. hoping someone can chime in.

 

i called wolfe thay were not sure if it would fit or not. i think it will fit ,we may have to find out.

 

I suspect it will, with no more tweaking/cutting than you'd expect from putting it in a 4th gen. Since the 4th gen seats, front & rear, are direct bolt-ins, that meansthe floor pan dimensions are pretty much the same so.....Let us know if you try!

 

well just got done putting the wolfe 4th gen 6point rollcage in the 89 firebird. man everything fit very nice. I will get you guys some pics later.

so this was just a bar not a full cage? does any one know how close a 10 or 12 point cage for a 4th gen would fit in a 3rd gen? find the cage i want is like finding a needle in a hay stack. i can do most of the work myself l just dont have a tubing bender to make a custom cage nor the money to pay for a custom cage. thanks

 

I thought the main hoop in a 4th gen had more of an angle towards the top...

But thats awesome that it fit! Other than the roofline, the difference between the two generations isnt that much. And like someone already mentioned, you always have to fit a cage anyway..even if its meant for your specific car.

Im not sure if a higher "point" cage would fit tho... The 4th gen 's roofline seems a good bit different. And you would probably have to do much more trimming and fitting for the halo and dash bars.. but Im sure its possible with enough work.
