Struts being a pain in the a** to remove :(
I tried to replace the front struts on my car today and was not able to.
The strut would not come out of the strut mount. Should it just slide down and out? I even put some WD40 and used a BFH but the strut would not fall out. I did notice that the rubber in the strut mount was cut so that probably needs to be replaced too. They dont have any in stock at any Kragen or Autozone near me, so I would probably need to order them. Whats a good brand strut mount to get? The prices range from $70 to over $150.
Would the old strut come out with the strut mount if I remove the strut mount through the top?
Also, i need to change the center link and idler arm. Have any tips on how to change those? Do I need to lift the front end completely or is one side enough?

I would change out the strut mounts, you can get replacements with rubber bushings, GM or KYB, or get upgraded mounts with a solid bearing from Spohn (I have these) or Hotpart.
You can just remove the strut mount from the fender, and the 2 bolts on the spindle, and the assembly can be removed from the top. I replaced all the steering linkage at the same time, inner and out tie rods/tie rod adjusters/center link/idler arm. Might wanna do the ball joints while your at it.
It will be easier with the front end up, invest in a good set of jackstands. You should use jack stands whenever working under the car. Trusting the jack itself is a gamble on your life/limbs.
