Spohn Strut Mount and LS1 brake master cylinder

If I put my LS1 master cylinder on and if I put the Spohn strut tower mount on, there is about a 1/8" to 1/4" gap inbetween them. Thats if I put the Spohn part in the same spot as the stock one was. This is because the container part LS1 mc sits lower and the Spohn strut mount is an inch taller. If the mount had to move inward it would hit the white jug container part of the master cylinder.

Anyone else had this problem? I need an alignment so do you predict the strut mounts will have to be moved toward or away from the engine? I'm putting in the eibach pro kit and new struts and wider rims. If they move outward then I'm ok.

I'm just debating if I should put the stock master cylinder back in.

Re: Spohn Strut Mount and LS1 brake master cylinder

I saw the same issue happening.. I was concerned before I even bought the strut mounts. I talked to steve about it, and he built me set of strut hats that were alittle taller than stock, but not as tall as his production pieces.

The result was the solid mounts, and plenty of room with the LS1 master.

Here is a picture of my stock mount, moved inward as far as possible, with the LS1 master. Its obvious the taller mounts would hit. I knew I wouldnt have to have the mounts moved that far in...but just in case, I didnt watn to chance it.

Now here are the new spohn ones...again moved completely inward as far as they'll go.

Just another after the alignment was finalized.

So, since you already have yours, Ill just say.... No you arent alone in thinking it will hit. But you also might be ok depending where your strut mount ends up after alignment.

Yeah thats exactly whats going on. I put the stock M.C. back in and its got plenty of clearance. I'm just going to have to see what happens after the alignment.

so did you end up having a problem with that? I was considering a setup similar to yours, and I already know my adjustment is pretty far in.

If you are talking to me, I'm not getting an alignment til my struts show up and also until I get all the other parts installed. Its going to be a few weeks yet the way things are going.

yeah, I was talking to you. You should let me know how that works out so I dont waste my money on the ls1 master if it wont work. My stuff isnt going on till my car gets parked come fall, so I'm not in a hurry to find out.

Here is my LS1 MC with Spohn strut mounts, fits just fine. BTW, I have the Prokit as well.
