ROH Snypers backspacing?
3rd gen correct offset, no adapters necessary. Anybody know the backspacing of them?
Apparently ROH thenselves (at least the rep I just got through emailing with back & forth all day) doesn't know. He kept trying talk about the CAR, not theWHEEL.
He tried to tell me they had .7" backspacing. Yeah....A 9" wide wheel with 7.3" backspacing.
I can only GUESS that if the offset truly is .7", then the backspacing is 5.2, but I'm not sure that's right either.
Anybody KNOW?

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
But according to Skulte.com..."maximum of 5" front and 5.85" rear backspacing". How can I get 5.2" front, if the maximum is only 5"? How does extra .2 (1/4") fit then?
Not only that, but a quick tape measure measurement, shows 2" from the inside edge of the tire to the stock inner sheet metal. Meaning, I should be able to get almost 2" more of backspacing, for around 7" total, on the rear of the car.

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
"Sinister" on this board has 10" wheels in the back with 6.5" backspacing. He had to remove the bumpstops, and do minor sheet metal bashing behind the wheel, but they fit nice.

What I really need to know is what they were built with, before I see about having them widened.

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
noticed the "snyper" talk and just wanted to add somethin... my buddy has an 89 GTA and he put the 17x9 snypers on his car, when he ordered them he got 4 wheels all of the same backspacing (in order to do proper tire rotations) and they fit perfect, infact, on spd wheels i believe they even state that they have a size that fits all four corners.. just thought id try to help.
oh yeah and one more thing, he also has sportline springs in the car as well. try out SPD wheels

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
I dont know if i have snipers but i do have a set of ROHs i belive their 17x9.5 w/ a 5.5 backspace i dont have time to mesure em now but i will later if it will help, but the easiest way for u to know what the backspace is, is to take one of them off lay it face down put a stick across the top(of the rim not the tire) and measure it from the back of the hub to the front of the stick thats ur backspace. It prob is between 5-5.5

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
I'm beginning to think this is hopeless to find out...
According to a Retailer that used to carry them...
"ROH did that wheel for the Camaro / Firebird in a 0 or +5 mm offset, the 0 would be a 5" back space. Hope this helps."
They even contradict their own website listing, of 18 positive offset..

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
Well u are right about that i dont know y u need to get THAT exact but if u need to be that exact dont use ROHs measurements anyway, i have one their rims in front of me 17x9.5 direcet fit to third gen no spacers, they told me when i boght them they had a 5.5 b/s and they do if i lay a level diect across the top 5.5 almost dead on. If it helps and assuming they dont change the lip profile the lip is just about 1/2in. So i guess the true b/s is closer to 5 on mine.

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
Backspacing is from the wheel mounting surface, to the outermost edge of the rim, not the inside lip of the rim. You can verify that on a million different wheel manufacturer websites if you so wish. So for your 9" wide wheel if its a zero offset, you'd have real close to 5" backspacing. I have some 8" Synpers, I can measure the lip-rim edge dimension and you can go from there in case ROH varies from the normal 1/2" on aluminum wheels but I kinda doubt it.
If you're trying to run it close, backspacing isnt in itself going to help you much. There are so many different tires out there each with different characteristics, that the actual distance from the mounting surface to the edge of the tire varies widely.

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
They're 0 mm offset. I'm almost positive that they're 5 1/2" back spacing. I know I measured them when the tires where off.

Re: ROH Snypers backspacing?
I may go down to A Jacks tomorrow, & ask about having the rear 2 widened to 11".
