uneven ride height after springs!??

Hello,

I just had a set of eibach lowering springs installed in my car "92 GTA" after arriving home i have noted that the car is now not sitting level. It is very noticible... the front diff in ride height is 1/2 inch ( side to side" and the rear is 1" side to side. I had the car over at the local GM dealer to have the springs installed and a 4 wheel alignment as well. I am currently running on my original 16 year old shocks but i am not sure if the shocks will contribute to the ride height?? Also now i can "bounce " the rear of the car have these shorter springs just exposed a dead shock in the rear or should i be looking at something else. thanks GTA.

oh and i should add that this is the pro kit, and question should i drive it a bit and give it some time to settle or is it wysiwyg? thanks.

Re: uneven ride height after springs!??

are the front springs indexed properly? there are 2 holes in the back of the a-arm pocket and the end of the spring has to be between the two or it will be off. As for the rear, make sure the upper rubbed insulator is installed on the lower side.

If the shock and struts are stock, they will be dead soon if they are not already, time for new ones that are good for a lowered ride height.

Re: uneven ride height after springs!??

thanks for the reply 86,

I am going to take the car back as i do not have a lift, the front springs sound easy enough to check the position of, the rear i suspect will have to be removed to inspect, i would think. Something is wrong for sure the car looks "twisted" the driver rear corner looks extremely "low" and the other 3 corners look ok, although not quite as low as i had hoped!, but the one corner really throws things off. I gave the car a "workout" on a quiet road thinking that it would settle or fall into place, but it did not. If that rubber stop fell out or was misplaced would it give me the sagging problem that i am experiencing? thanks for any replies, GTA

Re: uneven ride height after springs!??

sounds like they installed them wrong... prob forgot the rear isolatior or they arent in the pocket fully/indexed in the front. i had no probs putting on the sportlines on my car.

Removing the isolator will drop the car around a half inch.

Re: uneven ride height after springs!??

thanks folks,

the pass front was not fully seated in the pocket, this caused the uneven ride height, all is good now, thanks for the info, and the possible causes for this problem GTA.

Good that it's solved.

I've seen them installed upside down on the front buy a so called performance shop and the guy who did the work owned a thirdgen - I couldn't believe it..lol
