How low can you go?
How low can you go?
I am in need of a lowering kit. It would like to drop the front about 1.5"-1.75" and the rear about an 1" The only kit I can see that comes close to what I want is the Eibach kit. It say's it will lower the front 1.6" and the rear 1.3". I have heard about Eibach for years and I would think they make good stuff but I figure you guys would know for sure. I have never lowered anything. I always seam to make things bigger. I am not looking to take the car on the track, just wanting it to look good and drive well on the street. Thank's

dont get the eibachs you are looking at.....they are crap. never thought i would say that about eibach since i use there stuff on all my cars but the sportlines for the 3rd gens suck!!!!!!!! i had them and now have the pro kit on. my sportlines sagged in the front and the car wasnt even driven. sat with the springs on in the garage for about 5 years.....i wouldnt have even been able to drive it if i wanted to.....here is a pic....http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...aropics367.jpg here is a pic of the sportlines next to the pro kits. the sports are the red ones.....http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...rocpics010.jpg dont get me wrong it looked good but just moving the car out of the garage the front air dam drug on the ground.

I looked at the pro kit as well but it only loweres the entire car about 1". That's fine for the rear but I would like a little more in the front. Thank's for the info on them. I will keep looking.

if all you care about is looks get the sportline... i had em in my car forever and never had a problem untill i cut the springs...

Cutting springs doesn't cause problems, unless you cut them them WRONG way.
Cut springs are perfectly safe when cut correctly.
I've cut my 90 & 92s...Autocrossed both & never had a body drag or sagging problem. Even professionals commonly trim springs. There is a difference between trimming (1 coil or less) & simply cutting them to lower a car. You don't wanna exceed 1 coil cutting anyways on a 3rd gen. Unless you have lightened the nose a lot, like a LS swap + fiberglass hood + bumper support lightening etc.
Cut springs are perfectly safe when cut correctly.
I've cut my 90 & 92s...Autocrossed both & never had a body drag or sagging problem. Even professionals commonly trim springs. There is a difference between trimming (1 coil or less) & simply cutting them to lower a car. You don't wanna exceed 1 coil cutting anyways on a 3rd gen. she was just too low... sitting on the bump stops.... for reference i did drive her like that and she looked sweet but the air dam underneath touched all the time. that is one coil cut off of the sportlines

My guess is, you rode in a car with torch cut springs. The heat from a torch absolutely RUINS springs.
I always use a grinder & go overkill. I use a 5 gallon bucket of water, with the spring sitting in the water, with only mu cut line just above the water, so that the water can help dissipate the heat from the spring.
Everybody tells me the water is overkill & I don't need to do that, just the grinder, but......
1/2 coil front, 3/4 coil rear....

You are correct. I guess I never thought about the effects of a torch on a spring. I would have cut them with a grinder. Maby I will try it before I buy new springs. If it doesn't work out I will replace them and be out nothing but a little time. Thank's
