Steering Gear Box

Well I got a rebuild kit from Kragen to rebuild my steering bo while I put one in from a donor car, and finally after 2 months of picking at it for 10-20 mins a day, put it all back together and I have a couple of questions, What kind of fluid do you put in it?? and, How do you fill it up??? Thanks in advance.

Re: Steering Gear Box

It uses power steering fluid. You fill it via your power steering pump. You dont directly fill the box. Just hook the hoses, fill the reservoir on your pump, start the engine, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock a couple of time.

Really?? Then could someone explain to me why when you take the thing apart, the fluid inside is way thicker than regular power steering fluid??? Thanks
