air shocks?
I've been lately thinking about getting tires from a friend, but thier the wider and higher cooper cobra tires, (I'm gonna have to look at them sometime again, they might be too tall)
My question is what shocks is best for rising the back when I want it to? I know there are shocks that has a small hose that runs up and you can air up the shocks like airing up a tire. but I dont know what they really are, what would they be called, how they really work, and how much do they cost?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: air shocks?
air shocks, like you described them are a bad idea, they can cause damage to the shock mounts.
how tall is the tire?

i think the air shocks you would be referring to are knowin as "drag bags" by air lift heres a link to them from summit

Re: air shocks?
Well, I hope im not looking into something that would damage the shock mounts. O.o I really havent looked at the tires (saw them once) thier my friend's tires and hes been wanting to sell them, and they look pretty good "drag" look tires. I'll try to see if I can catch up with him sometime and asked what tires they are. (size and width.) There is a camaro in town ( I barely see it) he has the widest tires on a camaro, but they look really bad on the car in mine and most people's oppinions. but he told me he was running air shocks and showed me the deal his father installed, it's a valve and just hook a air compressor on it and it would rise the rear of the car to how ever tall you want it.
I Think those are what I'm looking, 1fastcamaro88, thanks alot
Im happy to see thier cheaper then I thought (I thought they would run somewhere up in $500 for shocks.. but I was looking in the many wrong places.)

Well, I've made a different decision and thinking about buying tires off line (tires and rims) I know it wont be cheap, but what do you guys advise me to get? (Im looking for the drag racing look of the really wide tires, but not like... the extreme, not like a roller skate looking car.) size? tread? what kind of rims? right now im just looking for rear tires, not the front, I was thinking about a pair of Hoosier tires.

Re: air shocks?
Alright, well, I purchased the drag bags, I only got the right rear in for now, I'll work on the left one on monday.
Well, I was wondering, what is the max pressure you can run on these?
If I remeber correctly, they said something about only 35 psi
35 psi isnt very much (in my opinion)
was it for something else? or is that the max they can hold?
I would of thought they would raise the car up even more than it is now.
but Im sure if I get the left one in, it will raise it up more.
but does anyone know what is the max air pressure they can go?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: air shocks?
I'm kinda getting that impression with these too,
but on their website says in thier FAQ they do raise up the car.
( And here is says it can go up to 1,000 pounds of leveling capacity.*
*Never exceed manufacturer's recommended Gross Vehicle Weight Rating )
And here is the FAQ question I was talking about,
Q. Can air springs raise or lower my vehicle?
A. If you’re asking if conventional air springs can take the place of a lift or lowering kit, the answer is NO. If you’re asking if air springs will cause a normal ride height vehicle to ride higher, the answer is, YES, if you want them to, by adding pressure, but only by an inch or two. If you DO want to lower your vehicle, look into our EasyStreet line of products. If you have a lowered truck and want to add air springs call customer support at (800) 248-0892 for more information.
