Where did everyone drill the holes for this brace and how did you hold the bottom screw to the nut on top? Yes, I'm new to suspension but searching didn't bring any good results.

 

I would go with the edelbrock 3 point strut tower brace. I dont know if the hotckis is 2 point or 3 point. But I have the edelbrock piece on my car, it tightened the front end up real nice. and the bolts on the edelbrock go through the body and the nuts go underneath in the wheel well.

 

I've been wanting to get a Edelbrock piece, but I'm not sure how it would mount with my strut mounts.

Uh, I think he asked for directions, if I remember correctly, he bought the hotchkis off a board member. It didn't come with the instructions and I don't think he got the PM's I sent to him. Anyone have any ideas?

 

installing one of these things is not rocket science. Assemble it, place it on the car, make sure its centered side to side and front to back on the open area of the shock tower, keeping as far forward on the shock tower as you can so it does not interfere with the adjusting of the upper strut mounts (the black thing). Make the holes, remove the bar, drill the holes, bolt the bar back on. I would assume there are bolts and nuts holding this bar on? i personally like to put the head of the bolt in the wheel well and install the nut up to, just so there is nothing sticking down into the wheel well that could possibly get into the tire in case of bottoming out or some kind of failure

 

It may not look as good this way but I would feel much better knowing it wont tear anything apart.

PS - If anyone has one of the Edelbrock TPI STB or other brand that they are wanting to sell, send me a message. I'm looking for a decent used one.

 

I also just purchased a STB off a board member and it as well did not come with instructions. When you say 'keeping it as far forward on the shock tower as you can' ... does that mean, forward as in closer to the firewall, or closer to the headlights. I know this may sound like a dumb question, but i've heard it spoken of in both ways. I assume you mean closer to the headlights, but i want to verify. With that said, the shock tower is inclined towards the 'headlights' front of the car, so I worry about clearance issues with the hood opposed to pushing it closer to the upper strut mounts. Any feed back would be great!!

Since the bars are usually mounted in front of the strut towers, i will assum closer to the headlights. This will still allow you to adjust the strut mounts, back and forth or whatever. You just want some space between the STB mounts, and the stut mounts.
