Bent Front end links?
Hey Everyone.
Got my iroc put away for now, and i took my sway bar end links off while i was pulling the springs to paint & re-set them into the car & i found (atleast the driverside) end link was bent.
They werent bent before this year, drove the car about 1500miles this summer w/ the new motor.
I think my alignment was a bit out, would that cause it to bend? I just want to be sure that i dont have anything bad going on.
Its Eibach lowering springs, LS1 brake system & 1.5" Wheel spacers.
All input greatly appreciated.
Sheldon

Hey Sheldon, the alignment out of whack did not cause the end link to bend. Prob hit a pothole or something, which may have caused the alignment to go out of whack, and bent the endlink. Anyways, I would get the Energy Suspension or the TRW heavy duty end links. TRW makes 2 different endlinks, if you get them, make sure you get the heavy duty ones and not the regular ones.

Let me guess . . . you have poly-bushed endlinks. And that you made sure that the endlink fasteners were "good and tight" when you installed them.
About the only thing that bends (and sometimes breaks) endlinks is clamping them too rigidly to the bar and the LCA. The LCA moves in one arc, the bar end moves in a different arc, and the endlink sort of wobbles along between the two. Too tight adds bending resistance at the endlink ends, and the endlink will lose every single argument with the bar about who is going to bend the most. One instance involving extreme suspension movement might only bend an overtightened endlink enough that it stays bent. Continued large suspension movements will eventually break one endlink by reason of fatigue.
