where did all the room go??

id first like to make everyone aware i dont have a 3rd gen and im on this site checking stuff out while im saving up for one.

I was wondering about the amount of space taken up in the back. Is it all from the suspension and back axle?? Other similar cars like the mustang have plenty of trunk space but fbodies have a huge amount of space taken up in that area. I thought it was because the tank was right there but when i was looking at some exhaust route pics the other day im pretty sure i saw tanks underneath midbody.

Whats the deal? (not bumming on them for lack of space i love hatchback style instead of a trunklid and notchback style, im just wodering.)

that big hump back there is the gas tank. The rear is more toward the front of the hump, right behind the rear seats. then the exhaust sits towards the rear of the hump just before the trunk space.

Its a sports car, who needs a trunk

check out the rear of a mustang without the gfx, like a lx. You can clearly see the gas tank right, hanging down in the rear of the car. Its not mounted as high as the 3rd gens, and is kind ugly and unattractive hanging out where everybody can see it.

me personally i dont care (as far as room) of anything outside of the vicinity of my seat and console lol. if someone really wants a ride they can squeeze back there if they want, hell i thought about taking that rear seat out and throwing in harness bar. less weight and more safety haha
i think the best thing for that hump is a couple NOS bottles mounted, it looks sooo dam sick!

Well I have to say if the tank was hanging lower then the rest of the car we wouldn't have any problems dropping our tanks to replace our damned fuel pumps

Yeah replace my fuel pump. Not a very fun job. Still I like it all tucked away.

its really not that hard, but dealing with the exhaust can be annoying

Harness bar(4 point i assume) is going to add more weight then the rear seats.
