Hey there folks,

Merry Christmas, hope everyone is doing good over the holiday season.

I finally got my UMI Subframe Connectors in a couple days ago and I had a question about installation.

What's the easiest way to install them? I know they have to be welded (duh), but how do you make sure they are held in the right spots to insure they are welded into place correctly and to make sure my LCA 's still bolt up like they should?

Can I just "bolt" them up at the lower control arm end (bolt my LCA's through them) and then swing them up against the car to be welded?

Would this work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, im really excited about finally getting these and I wanna make sure they are put on right the first time.

Bolt them to the lcas, swing them up, and make sure they're tight and weld them. (2 hours of prepwork atleast for welding). So ya pretty much exactly what you said and the instructions that come with them lol

I just did a set, pretty stright forward. A couple vise clamps held the front in place and pulled the gaps closer for welding to the front subframe. Nice pieces.

Re: UMI Subframe Connectors (Install Q's)
I had the front of the car on ramps and the rear axle on jackstands to where the car sat level. Used the bolt for the lower control arms to temporarily mount the rear, used a couple of bottle jacks to snug them up on the front end. A couple of friends welded them in for me once everything was positioned. My exhaust had to be lowered to do the passenger side. Also, to make things a little more solid, they welded 1/4" and 1/2" round stock to fill the gaps between subframe connector and pinch weld and between subframe connector and floorboard. I have a few pictures I can post.

Only good pictures I can find are on the driver side.

Here, the lower control arm is undone, the bolt supplied with the subframe connectors was used to align the holes, then the connector was welded to the mount. You can also see some of the round stock used as filler to weld them to the body (though this isn't necessary).

This is the driver side (passenger side is similar except for the small extension which we assembled off the car, and the exhaust). A bottle jack was used only to snug the connector to the car. You can see also where we ground off the powder coating from the mounting pads and the places we wanted to connect them to the body, we also cleaned off the corresponding spots on the car.

Thanks, but looks are deceiving. Friends did the hard part of welding, the only real part of that job I had was to lower the exhaust and replace it when finished. I was grease from head to toe, most of that I think came from the back of the motor, oil pan and trans pan.
