anybody running a S&W bolt in subframe connector??

I picked up a S&W cage from a guy and while i was looking for the install diagrams I found this on their site http://www.swracecars.com/store/82-9...70=40-600.aspx. Looks like a nice piece and I'm thinking about it since I just picked up a 91 Z28 and want to put frame connectors in it. Anybody have any experience with them?

Pretty nice design, but most people only use bolts on to get to their car to a welding shop, when they can't can't themselves.

Bolts might be strong INITIALLY, but they'll usually just wallow out the mounting holes & loosen up.

Ya I wouldn't plan on just bolting them in I work at a shop so putting the car on a drive on lift to weld them up would be no problem. I'm just curious if anybody has run this piece before. The car came with a spohn torque arm and it doesn't look to me like the two would be compadable.

Hi, i've got that set up on mine ,works great but the only problems I had during the install when I discovered my body was twisted slightly ,had to chain the car down and and use a floor jack to straighten the car out and get everything to line up ,after the install doors shut better no rattles well worth the money

Are you using their torque arm as well I'm almost ready to order the frame connector and thinking about selling my spohn T5 torque arm and using theirs and making my own T56 crossmember

Re: anybody running a S&W bolt in subframe connector??

that looks like a pretty sturdy piece.
its about twice the cost of most sfc's but i guess its worth it.
my camaro creaks and moans all the time. rattles are incessant.
i probably should go ahead and get some sfc's.
i might try this one out.

where do you weld everything if you get a bolt in one welded in?
just weld the heck out of everything where it touches metal or do you have to be more careful than this

Re: anybody running a S&W bolt in subframe connector??

Well I'm leaning towards this, because it does seem to be the strongest SFC setup out there. Also if you use their torque arm too it's actually a pretty good deal for the two components together. If I install this I would weld the mounts that go around the LCA mount, where it hits the front subframe at the trans cross member and in the front where it meets the pinch weld. It would also probably be a good idea to do some stitch welds along the entire length of the piece as well.
