new guy front end question

Hi everybody, first post and im hoping i can get started with a right foot. Ive done a bit of searching and i didn't know what to put this under either engine swap or here. but my question is that i have a 84 firebird that had a v6 (2.8L)in it and the guy that i bought the car from gave me a 305 which was fantastic for $350 for the whole thing car and engine. I know that the 305 wont be able to use the mounts that are on the stock K-member, so im pretty sure i would have to goto the wreaking yard and pull the one out of V8 model. or is there some adapter that would work? and if i have to pull a K-member from the yard how hard is it? 2 man job or can i do it myself? and if im pulling that what else should i pull like the springs or just get new ones? Money is an object but i would rather do this right the first time. I looked at the one Spohn had, but i don't think i can swing the $1000+(or as a matter of fact the 500) unless it worth it and i wont have to replace anytime in the near future(altho i would liek to get this thing running so i don't have to hear the "i told you that was a pile of junk" from my girlfirend). Thank you in advanced

Re: new guy front end question

Hi and welcome, altho this should be moved to the engine swap, Ill do my best to help you with this. I know for a fact that the crossmember holding the engine is the same from 82-92 all engines included. What Im not so sure of is if the 2.8 and the V8s share the same engine mounts. I would guess so. My guess is its a direct swap... physically speaking.

thank you, i didnt know what one to put it in because if somebody was to say that yes the spohn would be the better way to go, or if i needed to pull out one out of a donor car.

Re: new guy front end question

Since your on a budget, you dont need to invest in a 500+$ fancy piece. Just ask in the V6 forum if the 2.8 mounts are the same for the V8s. Like I said, Im pretty sure they are.
