For those with air ride tech air bags

I was looking at them cause for the price of a good adj shocks you can get the air bags for same or less. My question is the level 1 kit for my 91 camaro the air bags replace the springs and shocks/struts right? If they do wouldn't that be teh same as having a coil over in the front or does the air back just install like a spring and then no need for strut mounts up front?

Re: For those with air ride tech air bags

you need an onboard air system to use air springs, so they cost A LOT MORE that a good pair of adjustable shocks.

the front air kit replaces the spring only, you still need a good adjustable shock, so there the price goes up again. You can just eliminate the strut on the front of the car, that holds the wheels in position.

The rear air kit would again replace the spring, and you still need a shock.

Unless you really need adjustable suspension at have thousands of dollars laying around to throw at suspension, just get a good set of shocks and struts and call it a day.

Re: For those with air ride tech air bags

I too was debating if i should get the adjustable coil overs or Air Ride. I figured every time i wanted to adjust my ride height i would have to jack the car up and adjust the coils for the stance i wanted. With air bags its all done by a push of a button. VERY EASY and AWESOME!! So I got the air bag kit for my car. Paid about 2500 for the setup. for 500 more i could of got auto adjustment.

The Air Bag replaces your Spring, not your shocks. Everything stays the same.

So Air bags are not the same as Coil overs. Not even close

I went the "Cool Ride" system through Air Ride Technologies. BUT..I still haven't swapped out shocks yet...next on the list though. I've got close to 3 grand in the air ride alone, expensive, but it's worth it

i duno if i should go with air ride or stick to springs. everytime u raise or lower the car the rear ends gona move one way or the other becuz of the pan hard bar. is there any1 that makes a custom panhard bar for the rear that keeps it centre all the time? or will the rear not move enough to cause any problems?

Yeah, you can get a watts link to replace the PHB that will keep the rear end centered.
