Burning smell

So right now I have this weird burning smell coming from my right front wheel well. No idea what is causing it. I was thinking it could be the brakes sticking, but the car doesn't pull at all to that side.

I am jacking the car up and taking a look at everything today, is there something specific I should look at?

I'd really like to get a temp gun and see exactly what is getting hot, but I dont have one......

If your brakes are sticking the wheel will be too difficult to turn by hand.

Re: Burning smell

If you have the stock brake lines it could be the brakes..Check that, it IS the brakes. the inner hose collapses causing the brakes to drag.. mine did it before I upgraded and was actually smoking at the stop light when I noticed it..

I actually have this also. I just replaced my front suspension with new brake pads also. SMell is kind of intermittent. Mine is kinda like a burning smell, but it also smells kinda sweet. Sound anything like your problem? I havent smelt it for a few days so im assuming mine was my new pads wearing in or something. Never thought much of it till i read your post here. I also had new lines put in less than a year ago.

Re: Burning smell

I dont smell anything sweet, just a burning smell, and only from the right front wheel well. Nothing is visibly rubbing either.

Re: Burning smell

by any chance is there just a little water under the car when you smell that?
i found that when my radiator hose was getting a little lose it would make a burning smell. tighten the hoses and look to see if the one to the water pump at the pump is leaking - they tend to do that because they are very small and the clip breaks them at the connection point.

Re: Burning smell

My right front brake is doing the same thing. After a short drive and parked, my heat gun read 154 degrees on the right front caliper while my other 3 calipers were 102 degrees. Something is going on.
