Factory welds?

I'm in the process of strengthening/re-doing the front end of my camaro, when I stumbled upon some very ugly looking welds. Now, I know the car has been in a slight accident due to the front passenger side bumper mount being somewhat mangled and its obvious someone tried to fix it. So my question is whether or not these welds are from the factory or perhaps the damage was worse than I first anticipated.

The welds are located in front of the door and were under some pretty heavy seam sealer. I checked both sides and they are identical! Anyone have some insight?

The first pic is looking from above towards the windshield. The second is a side shot.

I would really like to measured and check the to make sure the front is 'square' but I haven't had any luck finding concrete points and dimensions. Any and all help is appreciated.

Re: Factory welds?

Sure looks like typical GM quality welds, found many of those on frames, subframes and what not. Not 100% sure if it's factory but it sure looks like factory quality.

Re: Factory welds?

It certainly does resemble some of the welds on my k-member. Its like they forgot to turn on the gas before welding.

Anyone out there have dimensions and/or proper points to measure from?
