Re: Sloppy Box
Yeah, the box can be adjusted but it's best to do it on a bench. There's instructions on the montecarloss site in their tech articles. There are two adjustements: the input plug and the overcenter adjustment.

AFU I think there is a surgery to fix your old girlfriends condition. I think I knew her. As far as the box goes, Id buy a new/rebuilt box and swap em out, then rebuild yours at your leisure and sell it. Going through all the trouble of yanking that thing out, adjusting it on the bench, then stuffing it in there and finding out its STILL wobbly...would be a real kick in the ribs. My .02

Re: Sloppy Box
Care must be taken if trying to adjust the box with just the over center adjustment. If the input plug is out of adjustment (which is likely if the box is that loose) adjusting just the over center set screw can lead to all kinds of overcorrection issues.
It's also not JUST in the box. All of the steering components should be examined for play, including the rag joint. Rag joint's go quick when the steering box leaks at the input shaft. Any sign of leakage is a cry for pulling the box and rebuilding. Replacing the seals at the least.

Re: Sloppy Box
My Impala has only 120 000 kilometers and the box is in great shape their is no leaks or anything Knock on wood.I just adjust the box because it was a free upgrade. The box was only out just a bit so i did not have to screw the screw in almost all the way and throw everything out of whack.
