Pics of what I assume was a trailer hitch?

I've never really paid a lot of attention to this, but after lying on my back for an hour or so under the car I have found what appears to be the remnants of a trailer hitch on my Firebird.

I've never heard of anyone pulling a trailer with a Camaro / Firebird - and this one was originally a 2.8 V6 to boot!

I'm going to grind the welds off and remove it, but thought I'd post it first just to be safe.

Strange but true!

Interesting, I've seen people tow with F bodies before, usually a small enclosed unit to haul slicks and track supplies. Towing anything heavy really isn't good for the car, let alone the fact that our brakes weren't made for that.

Small 2-wheel trailers are common for autocross F-bodies, to carry the 4 racing wheels & tires, along with an ice chest, jack, tool box, etc.

Seen a few behind drag cars for 2 slicks, but not as often.

The original owner of my old '87 formula had a class III hitch on it to tow a 21' ski boat.
