10 bolt swap

ok right now i have a posi 10 bolt 411 in a third gen rear in and i bought a 4th gen rear end can the posi uti and gears switch over and has anyone ever done this before

dude just put the whole 4th gen rear in there, its 100% bolt in.

I've got the fourth gen in there but it's a non posi and it's a 323 or some bs like that that's why I'm asking if the gear change over or not I have it in the air and haven't ran it yet so i don't wanna tear it apart If
it's not gonna inter change

Technically, they're the same however the carrier series may be different. The 4th gen's 3.23 is probably a 2 series. You have 4.11 so they're probably a 3 series unless they're designed to fit on a 2 series carrier. If you just want to put in the 3.23 with gears and carrier, it's a direct swap however, the 4th gen will also use 28 spline axles. Only 90-92 third gens have 28 spline axles. Older models can easily be upgraded. 4th gen axles won't fit into a third gen housing because they're too long.

Putting the 4.10 gears and posi into the 4th gen diff is a step backward because you'll need to buy aftermarket 26 spline axles for the 4th gen or buy a 28 spline posi.
