im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

i did a search and have been reading about the pro-kit but it seems that not to many are pleased with the drop (or lack of) .. if you have these kits can you post some pics so i can see the differance.. i will be running C6 OEM rims on the car ..much appreciated

Quite frequently, this decision comes down to whether you want to have handling/cornering performance or only want the car to look like you do. Real driver or trailered show queen.

Separately, there are things like clearances to your tire/wheel choice and your specific real-world roadway conditions. That's about as neutral as I can get with this one.

Re: im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

the car needs to be drivable in everyday use,, not a trailer queen at all.. im looking for a nice stance ..the posts i have read about the pro kits havent been that favourable..but i havent heard much about the sportlines either...i want to close the gap in the front wheel well down and have a nice look..im replacing all the bushings and struts at the same time..

Prokit on my car with C6 wheels. I like the drop it gives and the handling feel. With the right shocks, its very tight. I think you will like it. Front drops more than the rear but the slight rake is a nice stance. The car handles better than I'm willing to push it so thats good enough for me.

intrax lowering springs, just a bit lower, but i like it, tires tuck in nicely with no rubbing, what series tires are you going to run, keep in mind low pro tires will give you a bumpy rough ride.

Re: im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

Custom springs. Get the drop you want and the handling you want.

I just see to many people with the Eibach kits with bad results, nice drop in front, none in rear, or raised in rear a bit and dropped in front or didnt change at all, same heights as before, or raked extremely. I like a bit of rake, but not the rake I see people getting from these kits. Oh and so you know I originally wanted the sportline kit but went away from them since they were too soft for the drop and the pro kit isn't enough of a drop for me.

I'm doing 2" Drop spindles and coilovers with #350F and 200# rear for a real stiff ride, since this will be daily driven as well. Its all preference.

Please post pictures of before and after pictures if you do decide to lower the car. Thanks, TGO would appreciate it.

-Take care, happy lowering.

Re: im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

Mine dropped about 3/4-1" rear and closer to 2" up front. It seems to be hit or miss but I happen to like my stance and think the prokit has done its job well. Make sure the rear springs are in the pockets right or the rear will be jacked up higher than it should. If its still to high you can slighly trim the spring or remove the rubber stopper at the top and just cover the spring with rubber hose to keep it quiet. That rubber stopper is an extra inch and a half or so.

Now with my turbo motor, the extra weight sags the front end more so its even more tucked. I wouldnt want to see the sportlines on this setup, probably bottom out.

the tire are stock .. rears are 285/35-19 .. i bought 2.5' spacers for the rear and 2"for the front i hope the fit in well.. i like the stance of your car aswell.. the reason i have set up this thread is i have read many . and the resaults seem hit or miss with the pro kits... OH and it looks like we have the GSXR 1000 thing in common aswell.. heading down to Deals gap may 22-28 ..5 yr in a row..love it down there..

thanks for the pics guys..

if you care at all about performance get the prokit and trim them to your desired ride height, that way the car handles and looks good the sportlines are just for looks .02

Re: im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

2.5" rear spacer may be a bit much, specially with a 285, you're better off with a 2" spacer, thats what i have with 305's the 2.5 maybe rub my rears sit flush just the way i like it, oh and yea i no longer have the gsxr 1k, i downgraded to an 09 gsxr 600, insurance was cheaper and so were the payments

Re: im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

i got the 2.5" spacer thinking that if it was to much i could give it to a buddy of mine and have it machined down if needed ..i want to get the rim to sit perfectly centered in the wheel well. i dont want to have to modify the wells... the cars a low mile untouched example so i want to keep it so i can put it back to original if i want to ..godreject i had a 2007 gsxr 750 .. loved the way it handled but i couldnt give up the 1000 power.. so i sold it and kept the 1000 ...

Re: im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

i work at a machine shop and considered buying 2.5" adpaters and maching them down to my perfect size, theres is only about 1/8" of an inch that can safely be removed from an adapter. with my 2" adapters and 56mm offset wheels i had to roll the outside lip to get the wheels to fit, if i went any thicker of a spacer the 275 40 would be rubbing on the outside lip all the time. 2" is as far as i could get away with to have the car lowered 2" and still have 2" of suspension travel before the wheels would touch anypart of the chassis,

Re: im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

I put sportlines on my 89 T/A. Looked good but it was to low. In hard cornering it uses the bump stops which causes snap oversteer which is really scary.

I changed to the pro kit and I am happier. It doesn't sit as low but rides better.

A huge part of how it rides is shocks/struts you put on it. That makes more difference than the springs.

Car looks great. For reference, in using your car with my setup, I want mine to tuck your front wheels a bit, then be just a tad bit raked to the rear, fender flush with the wheel. I will be rolling the fenders as well.

Re: im on the fence between the eibach pro-kit and sportlines

Hello
Like mentioned above! I would suggest going with the Pro Kit for the clearance issues. The vehicle will be lower but not as aggressive as the sport-lines. And either one you decide to choose don't forget about a adjustable pan hard bar to allow you to recenter the rear back under the car. And also a set of lower control arm relocation bracket will gain you back all of your traction loss from when you lower a vehicle. And they allow you to reposition the control arm back to the correct angle. Below is a link to show you what all UMI Performance has to offer.
Thanks
Brad

Good point, forgot about that. Had to get one for my prokit drop even tho the rear didnt drop all that much. LCA's also nice to have for reasons stated above. You will lose geometry on a lowered vehicle.

you must have the aftermarket wheels.. the stockers are 18x8.5 front and 19x10 rear.. i did my research here and some have used 3" and some 2.25 ..the ones that used three said they would rather 2.5 and some with 2.25 said they had some rub on the inside so they need a bit bigger ..so thats how i came to get 2.5 spacers , if i need another size i will order it .. but i think i should be about right. and im sold on the prokits now.. thanks all for the taking the time to post ..
