anyone know what the rearend gears might be in a 4th gen firehawk

just wondering if anyone might have any knowledge of the what the 4th gen firehawks had as far as rearends, my 9bolt is just about dead and i know of a firehawk sitting in a junkyark thinking about getting the rear and replacing it in my 89 formula 350 ,allso does anyone know what the firehawk rearends were so if in the future i could find parts in case i have to rebuild or change gears are they the same as other 4th gens, and last guestion, heard that by putting in a 4th gen rearend it makes the tires stick out about 2" ,anyone got any pics with one installed and can you even noctice the diffrence , thaks guys ,

Jeremy,

If it's a M6 car is has 3.42's, get the code off of the top of the driver's side axle tube. It'll look like GU5 as an example, GU5 is 3.23. Dirk has all the codes in the Tech Section.

The 4th Gen rear is 2" longer on each end, making the rear 4" wider overall compared to a ThirdGen rear.

What you need to do is use 4thGen rims on your car and you'll be fine as they have the proper back spacing. If you use ThirdGen rims, they will stick out 2" on each side and it looks hideous.

Good Luck!

Steve
