alston SFC's
Sorry, but Alston's told me two months ago that they no longer make subframe connectors for the Camaro's any longer. I live here in the Sacramento area and ended up buying the Kenny Brown Super Subframe connectors. Alston's recommended a local guy here in town to install them for me. Their tech line and chassis shop number is 916 388-0288 or order line number is 1 800 722-2269.

The KB super subs were $249 plus shipping and definitely firmed up my car. I have the 3" converter and the subframe connector on the passenger side just barely cleared the exhaust. I did have to shift it over a bit by loosening the manifold to y-pipe bolts and then tightening things back up. Also, due to the variations in the box frame floor pan supports installed by ASC, the torque box ends have to be cut off and re-welded to make an exact fit. Kenny Brown told me that they have seen convertibles vary as much as 1/2" side to side so they pretty much are custom fit when the installer welds things in. The guy who did mine had installed many Alston sub frame connectors and he said the KB's were very good quality and fit nicely when he was completed. Kenny Brown's number is 1-317-247-5320 to order.

John, I heard the rumor of Alston discontinuing as well a few months back. I got mine through Internet Racers Supply, but it seems they only order them as they drop ship directly from Alston (or should I say DID). This unfortunate news on Alston dropping out leaves KB as the ONLY brand of SFC that will work for our ragtops. 8^( Also thanks for the news aboout the finessing req'd to get them to work. I recommend SFC's for every F-body as their first modification to fix GM's screw-up. But they are especially necessary for ragtops and t-top cars. BTW, a 3-point STB helps as well. Good luck, Lon.

Mine shipped fron Illinois alright. But I bought them through Internet Racers Supply. I just went through my e-mails and see that it was John D. that told me of tehir being discontinued. He indicated that he was told directly by Chris Alston. It is good news if this is not the case. There will still be 2 choices for ragtop owners. Alstons @ about $167 and KB's @ about $250. Thanks, Lon.
My mistake guys, I wasn't aware that there was another Alston's. I'm glad to know that there are still options for the convertibles when it comes to installing subframe connectors. I certainly didn't mean to mislead anyone-sorry for the confusion.

OK, what's the deal. I went to the Alston Racing page and went to download their catalog. When you click on it, a 404 error (url not found). OK, I figure I would go to IRS to check there as some of you bought from them and said they were Alston's. On their site, they list some "Terminator" series SFC but say they will not fit converts. Are these the correct ones or did IRS go with something else. I need to find out asap as I need to order SFC right away.
I was going to get Spohn SFC's and Steve said he was going to ship them out to me. Well I never heard anything and due to problems with UPS on my suspension order, items need to be shipped UPS air. By the time I get the product cost and shipping, I would be looking at $250. Well for that type of price, I'll look at other options.
I am looking at SSM SFC's. I can go through Summit and no shipping costs. Would these be a good choice? This is for a '92 Z28 hardtop. I want something that runs along the body pinch rail. Thanks.
BTW, Steve, if you read this and can have your SFC's shipped to me for $200 or less and can guaranty I'll have them at my door before the 21th, I'll be more then happy to get yours (considering the rear suspension is all your products). I hope I hear from you.

Anyone interested in getting the Alston tubular sfc's should call Mike at Alston directly. This the Alston in Antioch, IL...not Chris Alston's Chassisworks in CA. They will ship directly to you. 1-847-395-3500

Mike, The IRS "Terminator" series is the Alston Chassiworks SFC's. In fact they drop shipped mine directly from Alston both times I ordered them. They do indeed work on convertibles. I have told them that they need to change their web page in that regard. They are probably losing some business because of this error. I don't know which way of ordering is cheaper, as I have only dealt with IRS. Good luck, Lon.
Does anyone have pictures of the Alston SFC's made in Illinois? Are they like the ones made in CA?
