It just depends on how much ride comfort you are looking for. There is an adjustment range where both the red and yellow shocks are equal in value. I recently put on a set of Koni reds and adjusted them to the firmer settings (which would also be the lower settings of the yellow shocks since they overlap). I love the way the car handles and the ride is great! I didn't want my car to ride too stiff on the freeway since I drive it to work everyday. I'm very happy with the results and would definitely buy Koni shocks again. Hope this helps.

I used reds set to firm in the back and yellows in the front on my 87 formula. It was a great combination. Make sure you read the directions for the fronts before you install them. Likewise if you have the installed by someone else, insist they read them. The adjustment valve can be easily damaged if the directions are not followed to the letter.

The rule of thumb is to base your KONI selection on your spring rates. In your case with the firmer stock-rate WS6 springs, I'd select the KONI Reds which have enough reserve for spirited driving but won't pound your kidneys like the Yellows. Keep in mind that when you adjust either the Reds or the Yellows, you're adjusting rebound valving only.

As for the dealer, I would go with an experienced dealer, both for decent pricing but more for service and for the isolated warranty issues. My experiences with carparts.com is that they offer neither. I went with SVPU in MD--good service and good prices.

Go to www.dealcatcher.com and look under the automotive section for the coupon codes to carparts.com. I recently bought my upper strut mounts from them and got $50.00 off my order.

The carparts.com coupons are good for 33% off your first purchase of $100.00 or less. The price quoted for the KONIs on their site are priced each. Savings? Not much...

Here's my link for carparts.com coupons. http://www.amazing-bargains.com/carparts.html
Best to split up the order. Order the fronts with 1 coupon, then a seperate order for the rears with a diff coupon.

As for the KONI warranty, either way, with both the Reds and the Yellows, there is a lifetime warranty to the original purchasing owner. For the WS6 springs, I'd use the Reds.

I have the reds up front, and on their firmest setting, they still seemed squishier than the old stock struts (which were blue..hehe). Right now, I have them set to the middle setting (which they call "cross country" or "touring" or something like that), and it'll handle, but that 22 mile drive to work every day sure got a lot more comfortable.
