Lifting points and clunking
Lifting points and clunking
I just purchased an 86 iroc camaro with 80,000 miles... My question is i own a 2 post lift and have heard alot about the chassis of these cars being weak... Where is a safe spot to put the lifting pads at on these cars? Also the car seems to handle well but when moving it around in the shop i noticed that if you crank the wheel all the way to the left while just barely rolling it occasionally pop or clunk... Its pretty hard to hear where its coming from in the cab but behind the wheel somewhere. The tie rod ends i can reach are not loose any ideas where to start once its on the lift...

Re: Lifting points and clunking
you can put the car on a lift, just be sure to use wood blocks on the arms and dont just put the lift arms directly on the car, you can bend the subframes a bit. Wont hurt the car, but it will look like ****.
as for the cars turning issues. the alignment could be off, but also, the exact symptoms you describe are a inherent defect in the front suspension geometry. Just the way it is.
