1LE - Different front wheels than a regular Formula?
Did the 1LE cars come with a special offset front wheel? I've been told that the front brakes put the front wheels out about .25-.50" more than the standard front discs. Is this true or not?

Nope, not that I'm aware of. I could check my GM F-body parts manuals when I get home, but I can also speak from experience. This past winter, I upgraded the stock brakes on my '87 IROC to 1LE's, including the spindles, caliper brackets, calipers, and rotors. The wheels don't stick out any more than with the stock brakes.
My 1LE brakes work great, and pad changes are a breeze.
With Hawk race pads, I had no brake fade at all running 20-minute sessions on the Memphis road course in 90+ degree heat. The ultimate test will be the larger Summit Point (West Virginia) road course that has a longer straight with a hairpin turn at the end of it. Going from 110-120 mph (stock 305TPI) down to 30 mph is -really- taxing on brakes.

I've seen 3 different references to 1LE Lower control arms. I have 3 different part numbers for what is suppose to be 1LE lower arms. and I have heard before they move your wheels outs .25 inches. This gives more -camber
I've also heard is it because of the different 1LE spindles move the wheels out further, not the control arms. I've also heard the lower arms have offset bushings for more -camber. I have a complete 1LE front brake setup waiting with 1LE spindles on my workbench.
Being in search of this magic lower control arm, I asked DAL who looked at a 91 Camaro. There is a different control arm part# for QLC 16" rimmed cars, not for 1LE cars. So 16" rimmed cars have a different arm, but no one knows what the difference is. So that's also why I havn't did my 1LE brakes yet. I wish someone could get to the bottom of this!!
I will supply all my part#'s for someone who can research from GM.

After owning several 3rd gen 1LEs, both Chevy and Pontiacs, I have found no difference in the wheels used. That is, the same 16" wheels are used both front and/or rear that would have been used in the "standard" IROC, Z28 and/or WS6 configurations.
The front wheel/tire does protrude a small amount more than that of a non-1LE-package car.

I just finished the 1LE upgrade an now my front tires rub on the rear of the fender well when I turn the wheels all the way to stop on both sides- just a little no big deal - prolly because they stick out a little more now- my fronts are Kuhmo 255/50/16 on stock 16in wheels
