Tie rod question

I have a 1985 Firebird base model that came with a 2.8 V6. It's since been swapped to a 305 and I'm going to replace the tie rods and brakes. I was wondering if there is a difference in the tie rods and brakes between the 2.8 and 305 cars and which do I use?

No difference. If the steering components are all original, you might consider doing the front end in its entirely--rather than a bit at a time--and save on alignment costs.

Re: Tie rod question

no, he said nothing like that. Just replace all the old original parts will new. The center link, inner and outer tie rods, and idles arm.

Re: Tie rod question

86 is correct. Here's what I had in mind:

Re: Tie rod question

I suggest getting Moog parts, because they are known & trusted brand. Several of us have used them yet I've never seen a complaint posted. And they can be bought at your local auto parts store.

Here are all the parts listed on Summits site.

Re: Tie rod question

Sorry, brain fart. I'm used to front wheel drive cars. I understand what ya meant now.. I prolly wond't do the centerlink now due to cash but I am not familiar with the idler arm?

On my other car I put another brand tie rod and it lastedone year so I do understand the Moog difference.
