E-brake
E-brake
I'm in the process of making sure that everything in/on my car is perfect and one of the things I still have to do is tighten my e-brake. How would I go about doing this on my car?

Under the car, 1/2 way down in the middle.
Above the track bar and exhaust, there is an adjuster.
One wire runs to it from the parking brake handle in the interior; two wires exit it and travel to each rear wheel.
This is where you do your adjusting.
The Hayne's manual shows you how to do it.
I can't describe it because it's been awhile.

First make sure your drums are adjusted. You can crank on the "equalizer" like mentioned above, but it won't do squat if the shoes are too far from the drum.
Take the drum off, and at the bottom, there will be a little "star wheel". You will need to turn it away from the arm. If you have to lift the arm, you are going the wrong way. Keep turning until you can put the drum on and when you turn the drum, there is a slight drag felt. Then do the other side. If this does not correct the e-brake, then adjust the equalizer underneath.

FYI, there is no provision for adjusting the e-brake at the equalizer saddle on 90+ cars. I have a 90 RS and a 88 Iroc. The Iroc has the threaded rod at the equalizer to allow adjustment of the older (pre 89) disc brakes. There is no such adjustment on my 90. Only can adjust the drum brakes individually with the star wheel as described.
