Steering box rebuild in SoCal

My steering makes noice when I make a left turn. In the morning when it's cold the steering is stiff. I replaced my steering box and PS pump a year ago from Pepboys. Obviously the quality is not all that great (good enough). But I kept my original Z28 'box because the core was only $10. Knowing that the 1985 Z28 box was supposedly unique does anyone know a good shop in Socal that can rebuild them and do a good job? The only problem it had was that it leaked from the seal by the pitman arm.

How hard is it to rebuild them if I am able to do it myself? Will I loose the special valving due to the rebuild kit (if there was any to begin with)?
