Are there different spindle sizes?

This question has to do with my 88 firebird 2.8L, my run about. I tried to replace the front bearings inner and outer and the one side fit fine but the other side didn't! I swapped the rotors with the bearings in them and the passenger side didn't go on all the way. I don't have anything to measure it and didn't think of the adjustable wrench trick to do, sorry.
I think it may have been in a accident from the previous owner but I can't check that out.
Now could it have a different spindle size on it? Are there different spindle sizes for firebirds and TA's? Oh BTW the alignment is good, always, and the tires, front, don't wear down odd like on one side.
Thanks in advance!

The spindles should be the same. Are you sure the parts store gave you the right bearings and races?

There are different sizes for the firebird and T/A.

I think I would confuse us all, including myself, with the details, but the outer wheel bearings are different.

They do use the same brake rotors though.

Justin86bird,
Thanks for answering and as I said above I swap the bearing and rotors and it still didn't fit. I also got another set from another parts store and the same thing.

Thanks Corey,
Yes different size bearings (outer) but same size brake rotors. One thing what about the inner bearing size?

Dam, so now I have to get T/A bearings for one side and firebird for the otherside.
I figure the T/A would be the larger size since it is basically the performance car, right?

Odd. My GM parts book shows all years having the same part number for the spindle.

There are two different outer bearings in thirdgen's. One is for the stock 10 1/4" rotors, the other is for the 1LE 12" rotors. They have the same diameter inner race to fit over the spindle, but the outer race (part pressed into the rotor hub) is slightly larger on the 1LE bearings. You may have purchased 1LE outer bearing(s) for your standard braked car.
