Installing new Center Link

My question is, my manuel shows a special tool to install the inner tie rod to the center link, it is supossed to seat the flare on the inner tie rod to the center link
basicly it looks like a big nut to pull the flared end through, my ques., is this necessary, will the nut that holds the two together be able to acomplish the samething
Thanx for any help.

I needed no special tools when I replaced my center link. The only tool I think you could possibly need is a PICKLEFORK and that's just to remove the tie rods/idler arm/pitman arm from the center link.
