anyone have problems with tubular k-member?

Sooo try to keep this story short. Slid the car off the road years ago, endless problems. Just over the curb onto the grass but put a pretty sweet dent in the stock k-member. Have had the car tram gauged twice, told the car is straight, picked up a racecraft tubular k-member and had to pry/pull on the last mount on the second side to get the last mount to line up with the frame.

Figured i'd be good now however went to drop the long block in today and this. This is by far the closest we got it.

It's out by more then can be pryed on/forced trust me we tried for a few hours. Going to try a different set of clam shells on the motor tomorrow, and i'm cutting out the SFC's because they were installed after the crash. I'm moving accross the country on sat so unless i get this motor in monday or tuesday i think i'm going to have to gut it and scrap the shell, which would be a total shame because it's minty.

Actually i guess the right thing to do would be to try and make it fit with a minty stock k-member and see what the problem is.

Sitting here thinking if i do decide the front end has to come back out, i can try to fit the stock k-member to the motor outside the car, and i'd know for sure if it fits or not. I'm just going to seriously run out of time here which is the hard part.

I have a Spohn crossmember. When I had stock motor mounts everything went in perfect. When I switched to solid mounts, I had to fight everything to get them to line up.

What I would do is to loosen up the bolts holding the mounts to the crossmember and see if you can get the thru bolts in then. Then tighten everything down.

I put a BMR tubular K member in my car and I had the same problem. The solution was getting the motor mount bolts as loose as possible and getting everything started before tightening it down.

is the clamshell hitting that motor mount bolt in the pic? maybe thats part of the problem

as for k-members, honestly there are none on the market right now that i would buy. One of these days, maybe this winter, im making my own
