Torque Arm Mount Problems

Well I converted from Automatic to T-5. The T-5 that I got was for the lip facing towards the transmission whereas mine is facing away. So I bought Energy Suspension 3-1111R. Well the clam shell clamp didn't close with ease at all. So I got a longer bolt, wedged it in and than tightened the bolt. Well, needless to say I was driving down the road when I heard a thunk then again and again. Jacked it up and the clamp got undone. I am not entirely sure if the bolt just fell off or if it broke off.

Can anyone point me as to where to get the right mount? Because that clamp is supposed to close easily so I'm assuming I bought the wrong one?

I know how to install it, but the clamp isn't closing right so I think I ordered the wrong part? I think I am just going to have to get the razor blade out and start cutting away...

Re: Torque Arm Mount Problems

Its only wrong if it is the same as your stock T5 which is the opposite of what you need. take the original and see if putting it in backwards gives you the same issues.

Re: Torque Arm Mount Problems

Did you ever fix your issue? I'm having the same problem with my T5 swap - The clampshell doesn't want to close properly.

Re: Torque Arm Mount Problems

I wound up fixing the problem by taking a dye grinder and grinding the bushing to fit the correct shape of the mount. I had exactly the same issue with exactly the same bushing. Took a little bit to get it perfect, but its all good now.
