Brake drums loose??
Brake drums loose??
Hi everyone, I'm a new poster on this forum and I find it very informative- I just bought my 91 Z from a local used car lot, It's in very nice original condition- pretty hard to find one of these in such nice shape for the price I got it for- But here's my first problem- I heard a strange metallic thumping noise coming from the left rear wheel as I was driving home- sounded like the wheel was going to fall off (pretty scary)but I made it home. Then I pulled the wheel off and found the drum slipped right off, now I know they're not supposed to be loose like that- and also the stud holes are too big and there's alot of play there-I mean the drum just shakes back and forth on the studs. can you guys please tell me if this is normal and would it be cause this awful noise? Thanks in advance.....John

Sounds normal. The self adjusters are probably not working and need lubed up.
