Line Lock Switches....

Ok, I've got that TCI LineLock right now... and I'm not sure I like the switch for it.... I also don't like the Hurst switch either...

Anyways... is it possible to do a toggle switch instead of the plunger/trigger style switches ?? I know plunger style is good for quick releases, but I haven't the slightest idea where the hell I'd mount it for it to be eeffective unless I wanna drill a hole in my steering wheel....

Any ideas on other switches or placement of the current switch I've got?

do you have pictures of that?? I don't have the cord button... is it worth the $50 !?

I was thinking of just drilling a hole in the steering wheel on the lefthand side in the bar (its an 83 steering wheel so its possible) and running a wire behind the wheel and along the inside of the column or something sorta descreet like that...

Any other thoughts on options?

Axle/Gears: 3.70 9 bolt.
I hacked off the top of my already shortened stock shifter, had my buddy weld a bolt to the top, ground it down to smooth the welds and sprayed some black paint. Mounted a Hurst t-handle shifter with the button.
I thought I could just grind down the top of the handle and tap the threads but the stock shifter design is actually 2 pieces and that didn't work out.
Anyway, it works great. Easy to access. Looks something like this. Comes in either 3/8" or 7/16" threads. I got 7/16".

You could do what I've done for my TCC lockup switch (article under the tech section)... it's home-made but has a "racing" look to it.

I nabbed an old computer power cord from a friend, and cut off the ends. I bought a rocker switch that mounts into a 5/8" hole from Radio Shack. Then I took a scrap of 5/8" heater hose, and cut it into a 6" length.

I soldered the power cord wires onto the switch. Then, I slid the heater hose over the power cord. The Radio Shack switch fit snugly into the end of the heater hose. So, now, I had a switch on a handle!

The other end of the TCC lockup switch goes to the diagnostic connector under the dash, so I put the other end of the power cord wires into there. Then, I wrapped the excess cable (6 feet worth) around the base of my steering column where the column meets the dash. I wrapped the excess clockwise. This made the wire (from the handle) come off the driver's side of the column.

Then, when I race, I hold the heater hose handle in my left hand, put my thumb over the switch, and wrap my fingers around the top of the steering wheel. I shift with my right... when I engage the TCC lockup, I just drop the heater hose, and it falls over the steering column, over to the passenger side (my clock-wise wrapping helps that), out of the way.

I think it looks slick... not too bad for a $3 switch and some extra parts lying around.

I've got a 5 speed, don't really want to screw with the ripper shifter or nice new leather **** on it... hehe...

I like the computer switch idea though... got any pictures of it??
