Anyone worked on front brakes of a 4th gen?

Anyone worked on front brakes of a 4th gen?

My girlfriend's 4th gen supposedly needs new brakes very badly, and she wants me to do it... as a personal rule I've never done brakes on anyone else's car... so I'm not sure if I want to do these (couldn't take the guilt)...

BUT- how close are they to our 3rd gens? I assume the front wheel bearings are probably sealed so I don't have to touch 'em... do I just need the hex socket & a C-clamp for "business as usual"?

Brakes should be basically the same as third-gen. (yes, you should repack the bearings as well) If you have done your own brakes, your girlfriends should be pretty much the same.

Go for it. Save her some money.

Ploegi, I found out you're right. They're actually easier than our cars- the wheel bearings are sealed!

1. Remove tire
2. Compress caliper with C-clamp
3. Remove caliper & pads
4. Remove rotor
5. Reverse installation

I held to my "personal rule", though... her dad's bringing it to a shop. I also found out that none of the ABS or traction control stuff is in the way of a normal brake job.
