suspension questions

I have an 87 camaro want to upgrade the suspension a little. Want to get SFC's, but want to know what brand to get, does anyone have the global west suspension tubular SFC's. Are they any better than the normal square ones. What type of LCA's should i go with (Brand), and tubular or square. and a torsion bar (Brand). Also should i get the adjustable SFC's, LCA's and torsion bar. Are they worth the extra money and a panhard bar. Also are there any SFC's that don't need any modifications weld-ons and will clear a 3 inch exhaust in the stock exhausts place.

Howdy, I had hotchkiss suspension originally but since I found Global West I've changed everything. I currently have their control arms and panhard rod with heim joints at all ends and am very happy. I have their springs all the way around and am very pleased with them as well, rides a little rougher up front but handles well and dropped the front end a couple inches. I have their sfc's and again, very pleased. They cleared my dual exhaust and they clear my new SLP 3" exhaust as well, single cat without the cat..LOL I'm waiting to get the Del-A-Lum bushings, as I have all polygraphite now. Also waiting on their torque arm replacement, in hopes that the price will go down. By the way, tubular is stronger structurally than box. Take care now...

Thanks lostsol for the info. How much did it cost you to have the sfc's installed? It's probably the one thing i cannot do because i don't know how to weld.

Howdy again, well when I had my connectors installed they were done by a guy that was up here custom making Cobra race cars. You know, like the legendary shelby cobra, well he hand made everything except for pieces like the engine and tranny. They were cool, had adjustable sway bars and all kinds of cool stuff, but he got out of that business and has since opened up an auto-body shop. At the time he did it as more of a favor than anything and only charged me thirty dollars and hour, with the prep work such as grinding to bare metal to weld to, welding, then undercoating after he was done to Global West's specs since he faxed them for their exact instructions it only took him three hours. So Ninety all told for my connectors, and I imagine I got a better deal than most since he undercoated afterward. :0) I tell ya what, they make a helluva good spot to jack the car up with using a floor jack, they're stout as Hell! Any other questions go ahead and ask, but ya might want to e-mail me next time as I only check this about once a week. Take care now

You don't need adjustable stuff unless you plan on lowering your ride. Then the PanHard Rod and LCA's need to be adjustable. The SFC's never are adjustable. It is welded into place underneath, between the end of the chassis frame area that surrounds your engine and front suspension, back to the front of the lower control arm mounting area.

As far as who's product to go with, look at them all.
  • Compare the price
  • compare shipping costs
  • what colors are available
  • do they spacialize in GM cars, F-Bodys, or ???
  • can I do this my self
  • where am I going with this car (drag racing, street racin, road racing)
