HELP! My camber changes when I change directions.

When my car moves forward, the top of the wheels go outward(neg camber, right?). But when I back-up,the top of the wheels go inward.I am getting excessive outer tire wear because of this. The problem just started about three weeks ago.And since then,my new 4 month old tires are completely worn on the outside edge, just in 3 weeks! That's how bad it is.I checked the upper strut mounts, and they are tight and not moving.I have a new idler arm.Checked wheel bearings for the hell of it-they seemed to be good. What else can I check for that would cause this? I am rebuilding my front end this weekend(new bushings, ball joints, struts, centerlink, tie rod ends, and pitman arm). I want to take care of this problem while I'm rebuilding my front-end.I'm hoping these new parts will take of this.If any of you might have an idea or solution to the problem,or suggestion for replacing other parts while I'm rebuilding this weekend,I would really appreciate it guys.Thanx.

Something loose or broken in the front suspension. I would guess one of those parts you are replacing will correct it.
My guess: You may actually have a toe change from forward to reverse that looks like the camber is changing alot(the camber will change some when the toe is changed). A toe problem will kill the tires. Are you sure you got that idler arm tight?

Don't bother with the pitman arm, it's a 'no wear' item that has nothing to wear out on it. If the pitman is broke or bent(not very likely) get a used one.

Jack it up(suspension unloaded) and shake the wheels side to side(like you are turning left/right). Look underneath and see what is loose.
