I have J+M and have no such noise... How is your alignment after the install?

Re: umi camber plates

I just got an alignment right after.. But I noticed that he didn't Really move the plates when I adjusted them.... It started makin the noise when I took the stock covers out and put those off road rubber boots on..... Maybe I should put them back on

Re: umi camber plates

so is mine (stock height).. i dont have any boot i just have the j+m plates with no dust cover.. its made like that. Looks like something else might be at play here... Mine was clunking when i had a loose k-member brace bolt, tightened it with lock tite and it went away.. i would check all steering components and braces and mounts to make sure everything is tight/greased.

Re: umi camber plates

for the record, in my first post, i though you were refeering to the plastic cap that goes on top of the stock strut mount, covering the nut on the strut's top. As far as the plastic cover for the shock itself, it can be made to fit. Couple people here have done it.

Re: umi camber plates

no i was actually talking about the plastic shaft cover that protects the shaft underneath the car.... i had to but the back on.. they do work but i cracked them a little bit but none the less they are on and no more klunky noise..... i just did a post about this but i have basically bald tires all around... would that affect my handling and cornering abilites... cause sometimes my car handles excellent then at other times its a little sluggish...... could the steering box or power steering pump cause this, because those are the only stock pieces i have left on my car thats associated with suspension, steering and handling...

Re: umi camber plates

Bald tires would definitely affect handling! Tires make a world of a difference..

Re: umi camber plates

thats good to know because my rear tires have no tread left at all i mean none..... and the fronts have tread in the center but are bald at the outer edges..... i wonder how much of an improvement my handling would be with four new sumitumo htr tires...

Re: umi camber plates

i had bald tires before in the rear, the fronts weren't too bad, so i kept em for spare. I put those new Firehawk Wideoval Indy 500 tires on and it handles incredibly better. Braking, traction, stability, predictability! It's all much better now. It's worth it.

if the rears have no tread, they are beyond shot. whould have been replaced years ago. fronts need more air pressure.
