DAMN! That CAN'T be a totally stock suspension!

What's he got in it? Motor?

My car just slides around, even with the aftermarket torque arm.

all of his suspension is stock except for new GM springs and monroe gas shocks. that is it.
and his car has minor mods. especially since he has never pulled a valve cover on this car.
and he runs a 2.00 60' and a 13.8 1/4 @98 mph.

OH MY GOD!!!! Look at that lift!!!!! Is he running BFG Drag Radials or some slicks? WTF???!!!

He's gotta be pulling your chain. Not one single internal mod? That is impressive. Especially those 60 ft. times.

That is the kinda weight transfer that everyone wants. He isn't even getting much squat in the rear. That's what people put airbags in the right rear spring for, so that the wheel doesn't lift.

If I were him, I wouldn't mess with it at all. Looks like the car is hooking up. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Question, If he's running so fast. Why doesn't he have on a helmet. NHRA says that 13.99 and faster requires a helmet. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like he has on a backward baseball cap.

Like I say, maybe I'm mistaken. But it could be photochopped.

ok i was there and he is my next door neighbor and MEANYELLOWZ took the picture so ask him.
and the car is internally stock and on TEST & TUNE night you dont have to run a helmet if you are at the border and he was running 14.0s and we removed his emissions and put those springs in and iced the plenum and bam 13.84 at 98 mph he doesnt have enough HP to bring it past that trap speed
and those tires are EAGLE GT IIs 245/50/16 everything he has done is:
holley anihilator ign
Better Wires
Pulleys
K&N
Springs NEW GM PARTS
and new tires
B&M shifter

nothing else.
so believe it or not.

EDIT: he also has FLOWMASTER 3" 80 SERIES SINGLE one tail pipe crossflow

We were down at the local drag way(new road to power station hehe) and I was racing mine against a 97 Mustang GT auto. The boys were laughing at me when I came back from my run. I cleaned his clock with my stock 305 but they said it looked like I had a drag setup. I had no stall so the car wouldn't spin if you put oil on the tires and it came out of the hole like a top fuel dragster. From what they told me the car looked like it was almost picking tire. I have a huge stereo in the trunk and that gives me some weight but my car does the same thing as that. Same color, rims and everything!

hey fellas,
I'm the owner of the Z in the pic.
Rare-Rock isnt 100% corect on the
times. It was actully a 1.9 60 ft.
time. This car is pretty much stock
except for the few mods already listed.
The tire pressure was around 27psi.
The front Sway Bar as never been touched.
stock internal. As far as the Helmet,
they dont enforce that strictly on test
and tune night.

I believe those times. I ran 13.81 @98.96mph with a 1.96 60ft on a basically stock L98 in my 89 RS. I did have SFC, Herb Adams LCA and Panhard Rod, KYB struts/shocks and probably had the front sway bar down. I bet his sway bar is not hooked up in that photo. That will allow the front to pop that high. Unless you used a really high shutter speed, his rear is HOOKED!

Rare-Roc-Z,

Not everyone on here doesn't believe him!!!!!! NOW you are saying **** that isn't true. Maybe we're just saying that it's difficult to believe, but not that it ain't happening. You need to check yourself dude. Re-read the responses. So far I count 2 that sound like they do not believe it. All other's, including myself, just wanna know other details. That's all. And why are you the one being so defensive? It ain't even your car!!!!!!

BTW Jeff, I have to give you your props. You obviously did something right, we just wanna know what it was. Every little thing that it was. Cool?

Well, I feel sheepish. My bad, just looks like an awful lot of transfer with the mods that are listed, that's all. Glad to hear that you're running that well. Nice to see a 3rd gen running with the Lt1's.

Congrads.

I haven't had a 3rd gen that didn't transfer like that. None of the ones I have seen really spin off the line because they don't have the power. My friends were racing against each other and the guy with the 305 single trac chewed the guy up with a 350 posi though 60 feet. I think a lot of you guys are haveing a hard time getting the power to the ground because you have a LOT MORE POWER! Man my car tranfers great but it is a dog down the quarter.

sorry AJ i just dont like being told that i am hiding something. or that i would be considered a liar, my father has tought me that the truth is the best thing to tell.
i apologize for overreacting. it was late as you can see by the time and i was a lil stressed from my car, and the reason i was soo defensive is because i help work on this car alot of the times. and i know that car almost as good as i know mine. so anyways i apologize. i just took things out of control.

Dats cool. If anyone has the right to be mad, it's me. I'm jealous. I can't get mine to grab worth a ****. And no, I don't have a "LOT MORE POWER". It's a stock 305 TBI. I do have the crappie open rear end, and I have to ease on the throttle to get a good launch. It's just a PITA. I guess my foot is too heavy. I guess a posi is in order, huh?

I have come up with a complete list
of every thing I done to make my car
go faster.

#1 60 Degree Thermo
#2 Cut out extra plastic in Air Box's
#3 9mm Holly Sparkplug Wires
#4 Holly Annihilator Ihniton System
#5 K&N Air Filters
#6 3" Flowmaster Cat Back (singel outlet)
#7 No cats
#8 No Air Pump
#9 Underdrive Pulleys
#10 Stage II Hyper Tech Chip

That is all the aftermarket products I have in my car to make it go faster. I think one of the most important things I do is lay a bag of ice on the intake for about one hour before I race. I even push my car in the staging lanes so it dosent get hot waiting.
One of the coolest things that was never metioned is I have 133,000 miles on the car
and nothing major has been replaced.

My next mod will be Hedders and Sub Frame Connecters. Good Luck!

I don't understand why some of you guys can't hook up and I hook up great? That is really weird. I have a bone stock 305TPI with an open rear and I have never been able to spin the car. It bites like a monster and takes off. I run a set of Goodyear Eagle GTII's 235 55R16 I have a stall and gears and it still never spins. I am not fast though! I can walk all over a 4.6 mustang gt auto and I stay with a mustang 5.0 auto no prob.

again-

and also
i keep telling him to get some suspension mods and he will do better!
stated by Rare Roc....hey bud....I think hes doing just fine in the suspension department...now on to add more horsepower...you dont go tryin to get more out of the suspension when its already leavin like that.

If that pic for real the person that took it should be a pro drag racer, he would have a perfect E.T. all day long. I personaly think that is a decent shot of the car grabbing in second. Just my oppion.

I trust this guy. Why? b/c I pull a 1.94 60ft on stock WS6 springs and monroe shocks. When my car takes off, I'm lookin at the sky, these cars launch so awesome due to MASSIVE BOTTOM END! I run almost the same as this guy here, give me the pulleys, chip and ignition that he has and I'd problaby run 13.7-13.6, and I still have cats and air pump on. I think he has a great running ride

And the helmet question...most tracks never enforce it unless you have a pretty fast car. At Orlando Speedworld we have to wear long pants, that's it! I've seen guys with 11 second cars wearing jeans and a t-shirt no problem, but all tracks are different

Okay guys this is Jeff Oswald's girl and I've seen him race about 5,000 times and this IS the way it launches. Pretty impressive, and helped with this car more than Rare-Z. Everything listed is true.

All of you non-believers are insane!!! I truly believe his car did that because mine did the same thing. If you know anything about suspension, since our cars have the torque arm setup the instant center is waaay out in front , why WOULD'T these cars do that? I think everone else is just jealous

Have you guys ever been to a NHRA stock eliminator event? If you want to see what is possible on a basically stock car go and watch one on a weekend. Go to the U.S. Nationals or someplace and you will not believe what the are making these cars do with basic mods.
