SQUEAKY BRAKES?!?!?

I have a '91 RS. Lately my brakes will squeak a little but when it's wet or after I wash my car they squeak HORRIBLY bad. I sound like a school bus. What should I do? Is there an easy fix at no cost. Or a cheap way out? Or should I plan to spend big money on this?

Its probably your sensors on your pads or your pads are contaminated. Either way you need new pads.

You can get a set for under $30. Just remove the tire. Remove the two bolts on the caliper. Pull off the caliper ( may have to use some pursuading), dont damage it though. You will have to push the piston in to its bore first by using a bar. Put the bar into the hole on top of the caliper and pry the pads apart. Save the clip that will be on the pad thats against the piston ( you will need it on your new one). And just the reverse to install. to tighten the brakes up just pump the brakes. Oh yeah do not let the caliper hang by the hose, you may damage it. Thats another $20-25, plus you have to bleed that brake. Good luck.

P.S. I remove the sensors from the pads, so when they get worn down they don't squeak. I work on my car so I keep an eye on things like that. So its not a feature I care to have. You will need allen wrenches for the caliper bolts, cant remember the size.

My brakes squeak when they get brake dust build up on them. Once I have cleaned them they are quiet for a while, until the brake dust build up gets to a certain point.
