Axles for a 9-bolt
Axles for a 9-bolt
I have an 87 iroc with the 9 bolt, are the axles for a 10 bolt the same as for the 9? If they are where can i get them? If they are not the same where can i get axles for the 9 bolt? and finally can the axles be changed with out taking the ring and pinion apart, and is there some where i can find an out line of the procedure for doing so? Thanks for any help.

Nothing internal is interchangable between a 9 bolt and a 10 bolt. The only thing these 2 diffs have in common are the external mounts.
9 bolt axles can be removed by simply unbolting the 4 bolts that hold it to the end of the housing. You then just pull the axle out similar to a ford 9"
To my knowledge there are no aftermarket replacement axles available for the 9 bolt.
